Library Resources during the Systems Outage

This guide provides instructions on how to access resources through the library while the college works on the systems outage.

Resource Availability Overview

For the quickest answers to your questions, email us through Ask a Librarian.

The physical library and computer lab are CLOSED until January 4, 2021.

For access to article/ journal databases currently available, use the links in the section below titled "Database Links."

 You can still find books and articles through I-Share, there are just some extra steps. Check the tabs on the left for using I-Share and Google and for contacting the librarians. 

For citations, see the section below titled "Accessing NoodleTools." An alternative free resource is the citation generator available from Scribbner:

We do not have access to Kanopy at this time.

We cannot make IDs at this time.

The library is open virtually only Mondays-Thursdays 10am-5pm and Fridays 10am-1pm.

Please hold on to your books until Jan. There are no overdue fees.

If you must return your books before then, there is a drop box directly outside the Library on the first floor of the Student Commons Building.

Accessing JSTOR

To access JSTOR:

  1. Open
  2. Navigate to the Log In button in the upper right-hand corner.

  1. Click Log-in.
  2. Enter the following:
    1. Username: heartlandcc
    2. Password: hawks

  1. Click the red Log In button. You are set to search for articles on JSTOR. Once you are logged in, there is black text along the top of the page that reads "Access provided by Heartland Community College."

Accessing Noodle Tools

To access Noodle Tools:

  1. Go to Noodle Tools.
  2. Click Log In.
  3. Under "Or Sign In / Register with...," Select Google.

  1. Select your email.

Open Access Journal and Article Dabatases

Open access refers to free and immediate online availability of research articles. Below is a list of some places where you can search for free content:
