Illinois Pollution Control BoardThe Board is an independent agency created in 1970 by the Environmental Protection Act (Act). Under the Act, the Board has two major responsibilities: determining, defining, and implementing environmental control standards for the State of Illinois, and adjudicating complaints that allege non-criminal violations of the Act.
