Library Instruction Info for Faculty

An Embedded Librarian can be added to a Canvas course to directly communicate with students about library and research questions, making them easily reachable by students. Depending on the level of librarian interaction you would like in your Canvas course, the following library services are available within Canvas:

• Discussion Board Posts:

  • Overview of library resources (how to search for books & articles, use various research databases, request materials through ILL, etc.)
  • Introduction to library services including getting quick help via chat, email or in-person questions or by scheduling more in-depth assistance via a research appointment.

  • Providing periodic support & encouragement throughout steps of research assignments or projects.

• Video Tutorials

  • Librarians can create video tutorials for specific class assignments in Canvas or provide links to video tutorials via the Library YouTube page.
